Aanyoung, our founder, and Heleen, Head of Sales, headed to New York for the Shoppe Object trade show and the launch party of our new collection with acclaimed designer John Derian.
From the foodie heavens in Chinatown and setting up our booth to photographing our new Leaf rugs in the John Derian store, New York truly is the city that never sleeps.
Right off the plane and into the city, Aanyoung and Heleen wasted no time exploring New York. Having worked together for 10 years, travelling for work goes hand in hand with plenty of laughs. The full tourist experience was a must: iconic yellow cabs, red apples, and even auditioning as the new Statue of Liberty. Is there room for two more?
Aanyoung and Heleen grabbed their Sari Sari bags on their way to the Shoppe Object tradeshow, where they had to get the booth ready for the next day’s visitors. We’ll spare you the details, but it involved a lot of heavy lifting, drilling, and unpacking.
Luckily, our lovely colleague Julia, our Junior Backoffice Sales colleague, arrived from Amsterdam to jump right in. The booth is one of our favourites yet!
In New York, you can live three lives in one day. That’s exactly what they did, because the best way to recharge is with good food in Chinatown, huge pizza slices, and personalised hot dogs. Work hard, play hard.
One of the highlights of their trip was the soiree for our Leaf Rug collection with John Derian. Our dream to collaborate has been years in the making, but this August our selection of exclusive leaf rugs finally launched. The Doing Goods x John Derian Leaf Collection even made the New York Times.
We loved bringing our wild mission to the concrete jungle, ready to share it with anyone willing to listen. Our excitement was bigger than our jetlag, because nothing beats connecting with you in person and sharing our new treasures.
