Together, we transformed a series of vintage-inspired botanical illustrations into a collection of handmade leaf-shaped rugs.
Photographed inside John’s enchanting 1789 Cape Cod home, the collection feels as though it has always belonged there. Each rug is a little ode to nature, bringing personality and a touch of playfulness into any space.
Somewhere between forgotten illustrations and nostalgic fragments, John Derian’s prints found a new life.

John Derian
John Derian is a New York–based artist and designer, celebrated for his iconic decoupage creations and timeless botanical imagery. His work brings together art, interiors, and craftsmanship in a world full of nostalgic charm.
“I moved to New York in 1992, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I love the energy, the diversity, and the creativity. I also have my house in Massachusetts by the sea for when I need those nature immersions. I am inspired by nature and sharing its beauty.”
The Collection
Launching with five exclusive leaf designs, the collection transforms John Derian’s botanical artwork into hand-tufted rugs, crafted in Doing Goods’ workshop in India using traditional techniques. Every piece combines colour, texture, and craftsmanship in a playful celebration of nature.

The Story Behind the Collaboration
Aanyoung:
“I’ve admired John’s work for many years. When I first met him in 2018, I was honestly a little starstruck. Not long after, our Tapis Amis animal rugs found their way into his beautiful stores, which felt like a real pinch-me moment.”
John:
“I love their charm and point of view, and the other animal rugs in their collection. I thought this might be a pretty version.”

“John’s world of antique illustrations and layered interiors has always felt naturally aligned with the way we design at Doing Goods. Together, we explored how his botanical artwork could be reimagined as handmade rugs.”
