The ideal collab? A one that truly comes out of a love for art.

You see, some collaborations are carefully planned. 

Others come together more naturally. This one feels like the latter. 

Susan Kelly Meinen and I go way back, long before this project took shape. ‘We met each other working at Scotch & Soda, back in 2011. Susan worked as a graphic designer and I worked as a designer on the boys collection Scotch Shrunk. Roaring years of working many late hours and weekends but we were part of a talented young team with an unknown dedication and endless creativity. 

Our paths crossed again in 2023, as Susan held her butterfly painting exposition.  

The paintings are inspired by nature, by enlarging the unique features of butterflies like their tiny claws, colourful wings and patterns.  

I fell in love instantly and instantly knew we had to turn them into rugs. In the months after we worked on this side by side with the Doing Goods creative team. 

After the launch in Paris, it was instantly picked up by statement department stores like Illum Copenhagen.  

We know this collab is the start of something new fresh and exciting for both.  

For Doing Goods, the style of Susan Kelly Meinen opens a new chapter, of which I am so proud. A way of exploring new ground. It’s a bit like art that you can live with, touch and share your space with. 

Like all our rugs, Les Papillons are crafted with precision, hand-tufted from 100% New Zealand wool. 

In the end, it’s a collaboration built on trust, history, and a mutual love for creating and I hope you can feel that in every piece.
