How it's made
Naturally dyed textiles using traditional blockprint techniques
From generation to generation
All our textiles are naturally dyed using vegetable dyes derived from roots, bark, leaf flowers or fruits. The crafts people we work with were taught by their parents, who were, in turn, taught by theirs – each generation working almost exactly as the one before.
“The crafts people we work with are experts and use natural dyes and pigments only.”
After designing a pattern and cutting it into a piece of wood, the patterns are printed on the fabric. Tedious and precise work, blockprinting is the earliest, simplest and slowest of all methods of textile printing. And we love it.
Large pieces of printed fabric are sun-dried. Each piece is unique.
Back in our workshop we use the fabrics to make throws, pillows and other accessories.
